Ingredients

  • 1 30oz package frozen shredded hash browns thawed
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter melted
  • 1 can (10.5oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup onion diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed shredded hash browns and melted butter. Mix well to ensure the hash browns are evenly coated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, all of the condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, diced onion, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Pour the creamy mixture over the buttered hash browns and stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Sprinkle the top with paprika for a hint of color and flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese to create a layer on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
